Aggreko Tasmania

A case study video on Aggreko's provision of power during the Tasmanian 2016 Energy Crisis.

Case Study Video, 2016

Videographer, Editor: Angus Ashton

A case study video for Aggreko, the world leaders in temporary power generation, and their provision of power for Tasmania during the 2016 energy shortfall.

What we delivered:

Angus Ashton Film provided full production services for the industrial video case study, from videography in Tasmania and drone video, to providing post-production, adhering to brand specifications along the way. The final video was delivered to Aggreko for use on their social media and Youtube channel.

Tasmania uses about 1,200 MW electricity every year, 60 per cent of which comes from hydropower so when a severe drought brought Hydro Tasmania’s reservoir levels down to an all-time low, they knew the island would face severe blackouts unless they could get extra power, fast. To make things worse, the Bass-link undersea power cable that connects Tasmania to the mainland National Electricity Market had also broken down. Aggreko came up with a two-part plan that would shore up the existing infrastructure, while installing new temporary power sources. The temporary power giant engaged Angus Ashton Film to create this case study video detailing the challenges faced by the energy crisis in the summer of 2015/2016, their assistance to Hydro Tasmania, and the successful provision of emergency power that they provided for the state. This case study was filmed at numerous remote sites across Tasmania such as the Central Highlands area, Meadowbank district and the West Coast.
