With an increase in severe weather events and, as of 2014, the lack of a national learn to swim curriculum in schools; young children are those most at risk in Vietnam's changing climate. Norwegian Church Aid is one group in Vietnam that is working to build essential life skills and capacity for rural students and school teachers. Implemented in 2012, the NGO's ongoing project "Swim Towards Disaster Risk Reduction" has been effective in equipping students and teachers alike with water safety, swimming and first aid skills.
