Building Good Men

A promotional video for one of Australia's oldest independent schools.

Videographer, Editor, Director: Angus Ashton

A promotional clip for the Hutchins school, an independent boys school, located in Sandy Bay, Hobart, Tasmania.

What we delivered:

Filming took place across 2 days in numerous areas on-campus such as sporting grounds, classrooms and on Hobart’s River Derwent (for the Sailing and Rowing scenes). Narration was recorded with a number of students from different year grades who were keen to be involved in the production of the video. Post-production then commenced and the final clip was delivered in a number of lengths and formats for use both on the schools website, its social media platforms, and as a 30 second television commercial that would be broadcast statewide.

Founded in 1846, Hutchins is one of the nations longest operating educational institutions with a tradition of guiding its male students towards success in their chosen fields. From academia, law, film, politics and arts, to business and sport – Hutchins aims to build men of good character. Angus Ashton Film was commissioned to create this video that embodies the Hutchins spirit, ethos and brand, while displaying the wide range of opportunities on offer to its students. A simple concept was developed that reflected the schools brand, vision and goals. A storyboard and shot list were put together to ensure efficient filming on the day with minimal interruptions to students and staff. The piece also aimed to show the schools vision in providing an inspirational education for its students, one where they can study in a nurturing environment and be part of a positive culture that enables them to be their best.
