Scenes from Hue City is a short vignette of daily life in the city of Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital. Hue is a city of immense beauty, history and heartbreak. Decades on from two devastating wars and as many natural disasters, Hue has evolved greatly, yet to this day it still retains a rustic and mysterious quality, and a sense of the former glory it held during its time as the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. The city was ravaged during the 1968 Tet Offensive, a violent chapter of the American War in Vietnam.

Countless civilian lives were lost as they were caught in the crossfire between U.S and NVA/Vietcong forces. This video is a collage of random and often impromptu travel footage from numerous locations around Hue City and within Thua Thien Hue Province during 2012. Parts of the video featured in an in-flight advertisement by airline Korean Air during 2014. With thanks to Lam Dai Huynh.
